As you may have heard through various news outlets Target stores had large breach of debit and credit card information. Jackson Area FCU is monitoring the situation carefully and taking actions to safeguard any cards affected by this breach. Although a large number of cards were affected nationwide only a small amount of Jackson Area FCU cards were affected.
How do you know if you were affected
If your card was compromised you will be receiving a letter in the mail letting you know what we are doing to safeguard your card information. If you do not receive a letter your card was not affected by this breach. If you were a customer during the holiday season at Target it does not automatically mean your card was compromised. There was only a small window of exposure.
What to do if you see unauthorized transactions on your account
Jackson Area FCU has a dedicated fraud department that monitors your account 365 days a year for potentially fraudulent transactions. If our fraud team sees anything that appears suspicious you will be contacted to verify the transactions. We also encourage you to monitor your account and to let us know if you see any unauthorized transactions. You will not be held responsible for fraudulent transactions on your account.
If you would like to report any unauthorized transactions on your Visa debit or credit card or have any additional questions regarding the Target breach please contact the Card Services department at (601) 922-7055 option 3 during normal operating hours.
